So did the core stage blow up or what

To bad there is no Jalopnik bump.

Yeah, sounds like RUD on the droneship. Still, you can’t call this anything but a success.

I’ve not heard anything about the Core stage other than them losing signal to the droneship cameras.

There’s some things you just don’t talk about...

The payload survived; anything else is the contractor’s problem.

If someone snuck a Jalopnik sticker on there.....

Just got informed down at the Cape SC event that the core booster had a water landing missing the droneship by only around 20-30ft.
Likely cause of the missing the target seems to be a very slight engine overthrust
Hopefully we’ll hear from official channels soon.
Oh, but they did just pop up the live feed of Starman.

“only” and “very slight” are carrying a lot of weight there. I wonder if the core can still be recovered and flown again after a water landing?
Either way, huge success.

It will now be repourposed as a submarine.

I doubt it very much. Rockets (especially liquid fueled ones) don’t react well to saltwater. Still, it’d give them some hard data to look over.

it’s a great start, but when do they launch the rest of the Teslas off of this planet?

Winnebagos were there first...

I hope they still aren’t running Goodyear G159's...

They’ll be fine as long as you up the tire pressure to 200 psi...

don’t need tire pressure when there’s no road to drive on
